Speedster Powerboats?

I just ran across a photo and checked their website. Pretty damn sharp looking boat.

Pretty nice looking' boat

Runs leveled and I particularly like the fact that the hull and deck is seamless

would be nice to see more pics of it at the show.

Speedster

Talked to Dan from Archer marine a couple weeks ago and he said it was going to be at the Miami show. Boat looks good.

olli 02-19-2012 01:58 PM

I think Archer Marine cut that Cougar Thunderboat open quite a while ago. Were they finally allowed to sell it?

Phantom1 02-21-2012 07:52 AM

Any pictures of this boat at the boat show?

fobes 02-21-2012 09:45 AM

Nice looking boat. Any details?
Matt

Staggered 32 foot boat, cool!

Stormrider 02-21-2012 01:50 PM

Is this a new design, or is it pulled from the activator or adrenaline?

This is new and Larry Smith is involved. Super nice boat.......

Ryan Beckley 02-21-2012 02:15 PM

Pretty sure this is derived from their 32 Cougar race boat they had.

Stormrider 02-21-2012 03:28 PM

Interesting engine choices!
Twin 5.7 350hp; are they getting WOT 78mph w/ that setup?

I like how it's kinda bare boned.... would be beast w/ the new Ilmor v8s!

Did i just say beast???

TeamSaris 02-21-2012 04:40 PM

Beast??? You sound like my college buddy talking about his Subaru! :D

If Larry Smith is involved it will be a great product. Im thinking 650hp Small BLocks :D

Speedster in Miami

It's a great boat - having ridden in it in both the Atlantic and the Pacific now... I can tell you it lays down extremely flat and planes instantly.

Dan is a great guy and did wonders re-rigging an old Hustler of mine with Kamas... If only we could have staggered the motors as I think it makes a huge difference.

More details on the website:

Or Facebook

I'm really looking forward to being out when we can run her all the way and finish the prop testing.

Danny Mac is a great guy have done alot of work with him and for him over the years.....The boat is derived from a Cougar but has been extensively modified and only bears some similar lines other than that it is a totally different animal.....

Coolerman 02-24-2012 04:14 PM

Dan MacNamara is a very knowledgeable person, and knows how to set a boat up. He did the original rigging on our boat, and did an impeccable job irregardless of the fact that he had that Sean guy there at the time! :evilb: :evilb: :evilb:

I saw them fueling in Miami, if Larry Smith is involved its gonna be good!

mccaffertee 02-25-2012 08:34 AM

HOW can this be derived from a Cougar, but be something else? And WHY wouldn't Larry Smith design something new? Can't this guy reengineer and design something new?

Correct. I talked to him a lot about this boat. Started as the 32 cougar and according to Dan the boat wasn't quite right. They converted it tp the twin stagg Bravo boat and have been reworking the bottom extensively. I think the one shown is the orig. boat, but has complete new molds. He said the boat turned out really well so much so that Cougar want to buy it back. He said sure...after we spent the $ and made it right. Best secret out there IMO.

The Thunderboats ran very well over here in ProVee with TriMax and SSM.
Speedster's website says 'Championship Winning Hull Design'. Which championship has that 'extensivly reworked' bottom won then?

Then again who cares. It's gorgeous, good luck for them.

Team Archer 08-28-2013 09:20 PM

Not that I know of I heard there was 3 or 4 boats. But if you can do better I will see you there next year .

Payton 08-29-2013 06:27 AM

Congrats on the win at the Shoot out. It's cool to see somone building a 32' staggered boat again. Looks great!

Gary864 08-29-2013 06:39 AM

The speedster had twin 525's if I remember right. Dan did a great job on the boat, it is the best looking 32' out there!

Team Archer 08-29-2013 09:22 PM

They are clone 525 we built at the shop. 502 s with cast iron heads and no fresch water cooling and stellings 15 in shorty headers

Dan, do you have any stats on your 2013 Kaama? I saw some pics of it facebook and I'm just curious as to what exactly it is.

Team Archer 08-30-2013 01:10 AM

Its based on the 43 Larry Smith Scarab 48 long 6.7 liter cummins diesel that put out 550hp and 1250 ft lbs torque we run it thru the trimax surface drives with dual rudders the boat weights in at about 13,000 lbs and run 82 MPH. With full cabin. Not bad for stock diesels.

Gary864 08-30-2013 07:23 AM

101 with 525 is impressive. Nice job and great looking boat.

pslonaker 08-31-2013 01:35 AM

In looking at the shootout information it looks like the boat was the only one in its class. Not saying its not a nice boat, just saying it won its class by being the only one in it.
