anyone ever heard of brummitt engineering? carson has been building efi twin turbo bbc for many years. his engines were originally designed to run high rpm's for long periods of time because of the type of racing he was doing. the turbos are water cooled and the motors run like hell! in fact I think he out ran a couple of guys at LOTO with his 1650hp up against the 1650 new mercruiser. but it could all be boat and set up. but the guy really knows his stuff with turbos. check into it! I always choose yrs of experience over newly developed kits. lol people!
For those unfamiliar with Carson Brummett he is a great guy and a esteemed custom engine builder that has been working with Turbo's for many years. He has a lot of the old Gentry Turbo stuff he uses to build his platform. He does make a water jacketed aluminum housing and his stuff does work for custom builds no doubt about it.
We looked at virtually everyone's stuff and tried numerous products in the R&D of the development of our own. Our new all Stainless Steel water jacketed turbo housing has many unique features in that all of the wastegate gases are transferred directly to the exhaust exit flange integrally. It also uses a standard CMI style band clamp and exhaust flange. as well as EGT ports and such.Turbo engine technology is much different than supercharged engine development. Sizing and matching components is very critical..
This is one of the reasons we set our focus on the 525 engine package as we could build around a consistent platform. While yes everyone knows we are a bit behind we are making huge strides. We have a huge inventory of parts waiting the final delivery of our proprietary water jacketed turbo housings. We got our first production run of castings but weren't pleased and are awaiting our second run. We will be debuting pictures as well as a full detailed story of the journey on another powerboating website..
Many people asked why this application and we really just wanted to showcase an example of our offering and technological skill set of engineers has. What we really want is to deliver an exhaust system, turbo housing, as well as custom intake plenums to the engine building world so that professional engine builders can then showcase their own talent set to deliver many other possible engine applications and boaters have an option to upgrade their current offerings
We are enduring the pain of being late to market because we know there is on;y one opportunity to make a first impression and we want to deliver a new standard upon which a bolt on kit is delivered. We are still 100% on the gas and moving forward so keep your eyes out it going to be a very exciting option for those seeking another turbo option

I haven't heard any more about it. I haven't contacted Hardin though. The Whipple kit is available though and it looks like pricing would be similar, so which would be the best way to go if you don't need new headers? http://speedonthewater.com/new-boats...or-525efi.html

YEAH, why would any major marine manufacturer use turbos on a boat. Don't you know what turbo lag is? Just look at drag racing, all the really fast street cars are using multiple stage nitrous kits or big 6-71 blowers. Plus if they were so good why aren't the major auto manufactures using them in their cars and trucks....said no one ever
