I am trying to decide weither or not to quit the job I have had for 15 years and take a job in the Mobile area. I am just looking for some general info on the boating area and the good and bad things about living in south Alabama. Thank you for any advice and info you may have!!!
Forgot to add, I'm 38 and have no kids

I keep my boat in Pensacola. The gulf coast is great for boating, you can stay inside the barrier or hit the outside on a nice day. Lots of boater friendly bars/restaurants in Orange Beach and Pensacola. Plenty of great private and public beaches to pull up on.
Oh, and be prepared for your boat insurance to triple!

We spent a bit of time there while living in North MS. Daphne/Orange beach, the east side, is nice. Mobile has a decent downtown, but it's a fairly industrial feel around the rest of it. Lots of poor areas.
Nice thing is that its close to New Orleans and Florida Beaches, so accessibility is good.
