I have photos in the attic somewhere, low quality circa 2001ish, its a needle in the haystack to find at this point, if it helps and you can find one, hull #6 was the boat utilized in the Oct 2000 Powerboat Magazine issue on F1's also here is a link from another OSO thread in the Scarab section, I believe the boat pictured is hull #3 that was out west http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/s...ab-wanted.html

PLEASE!!!! I currently have Sean McWhinney's old boat. All red with Pfaff 540 ci and 3A. Thing is absolutely amazing. Im trying to find pics of my boat or even the newer version of mine that i thought had a fuel injected Pfaff engine and 5 drive...... Any pics/info of my boat that you may have would be greatly appreciated.

What year is yours? All 6 of the 2000 F1 Scarabs came out of the factory with HP500 and Bravo drives, hull was white with imron just like the link I posted

Mine is not one of the six stepped bottoms. Mine is a 88 all red 26 Larry Smith that was built for Sean McWhinny of Sunset Aquatic. Pfaff engine Merc 3A outdrive. Its the boat mentioned earlier that was for sale out of Havasu..... Was wondering if you had any info on it....... There was a later one built for his brother Trent I believe that had an injected engine with 5 drive. Almost identical set up, just newer technology.

My apologies as my name is Trent as well but not the same gentleman.... I am only familiar with the step hulls and only have pics of 2000 #6. Maybe a possibility is contacting Archer Marine out in Ca and they can get you in the right direction, they are very familiar with the Larry Smith Scarabs over time

Oh ok. I appreciate it. Yes, I live down the street from archer marine. Dan has the build sheet for my boat from when it was built but thats all. Thanks for the help anyways Sir.

Did you ever have the chance to drive/throttle a 26 LS straight bottom? If so, what did you think in comparison to the stepped 26 you had?
|
The stepped hull kept it up on top more than the 24 and 28 foot straight hulls I've had. Faster than both also. The Scarab had a large step.
Loved the boat and how it ran. I would think a 26 LS Straight bottom would be a great boat as well. |
