1. Make sure the o-ring is in the cap , between the thread area at the top of the cap. It is black and you can see it once you remove the cap. 2. For a period of time (were not sure how long) Mercury drilled a small hole in the threads on the white plastic tank where the cap threads on to get the unit to vent. This will cause a leak. Got mine from Trick. NO LEAKS...Red...breaks up all the Merc Blue
