me and the wife did a cruise there about 2yrs ago.we went to the island of samanna.did a bus tour of the island and the people,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,it was a real eye opeaner.the country was nice, but very poor.most people that go there stay at resorts, and for good reason, but if you get a chance,go out in the general public and look around.you will see what i mean.

Just got back from there in February, had an awesome time. We went to Las Tarenas a nice little coast town for a few days, then explored Santo Domingo for a few days in the Colonial District.
BC is right, definitely a very poor country. But it is very beautiful, nice people, generally a great place to explore outside of the resort.
But yeah, as far as boats go...nothing fast for damn sure.
