Take the time to read the feedback that other customers have left for the transporters that have bid on your shipment.

The guy I ended up hiring thru USHIP (craneman4) works alone with his 3/4 ton pick-up truck and has his DOT#'s and is insured. He is not a broker, he is the one who picks up, hauls and delivers your shipment. It does not sit in a yard somewhere waiting while someone tries to find someone else to haul it. THAT'S what I was looking for, someone who would be responsible for the transportation of my new boat from start to finish.

I ended up paying $2,240.00 (aprox. $1.00 per mile) which I thought was a very fair price... Other bids came in a few hundred cheaper, but I went with craneman4 for the reasons stated. For my own peace of mind, I also had my insurance agent bind my own coverage on the boat in case anything went wrong on the way here... That way, I felt like I had double protection for the long journey home.

Good luck with your shipment!

+1 Had a very good experience and went with both and reviews. I'm looking at them again to bring my boat out from Dallas to Annapolis.

Here is one example of a good honest reputable company, where also the Owners are the drivers and the ones responsible for everything. Owner also is a license surveyor and avid boater!

Uship does have some good people on their site you just have to be able to sift through them....I have an uship account but I also have all the insurances that go with it!!!!! But if you have people bidding jobs at 2-3k and someone comes in at 800 you pretty much know he is probably not legit!!!!!

Default for next time...

next time I would recommend this company. I've had 3 or 4 buddies use them over the years and they've all had good stuff to say...

Well I ended up renting a F-250 truck and got it myself. Truck cost me $547 and spent about $350 in gas.

Avoid Uship.absolutley no way to get satisfaction from them. I just moved a boat FLA to Buffalo, Sean was close in price but another company was right there and did the haul without a problem. Amy at www.Autritransport.com
