I had never heard of it until we were invited by friends with a house there. Great to be there with friends who know literally everyone there - awesome people and atmosphere.

The water is a bit cold at times but nowhere near Tahoe temperatures. Beautiful houses on the water, great boating, lax attitude. The wind does tend to kick up at times during the afternoon. The altitude is not a high as Tahoe but propping down is reccomended. The lake doesn't have many smaller coves to hang out in however. Overall, it's definately worth the trip. You'll love it.

I think it is a Vector.

And I agree with Tom A. less is more, I do like the look of most of the boats in this thread, I like a normal paint job, not too over the top, just like the Donzi in post #46 (candy apple red), sharp.

I don't mind a name on side, old school style, like the 27' Magnum and 35' Cigarette pictured below.

Thinking about this same when I repaint. The whole side was blue but I think I like it with just the blue accents. Keeps the old school look without being dated. Opinions?

I agree looks good like that .

Great thread.

I have a slightly different take.

Having had an almost all white boat once eons ago I agree there is merit to "less is more."

That said my take is that as long as the builder can offer you what you want - and you want less - then it's true.

If you want "more" and the builder cant do it then "less is more" is nothing but a euphemism for "I cant do that".

I love the old Formula's. They have some color and flash, but still simple and timeless.

This boat looks great any other pictures of it?

I love the classic simple look of a solid color on the sides. The look is timeless and classy, yet still makes a statement.

Chris 04-11-2012 08:47 AM

i dont have any more pictures of it, my wife have gone to PIB a few times last summer. every time we have gone, we have seen this cig - this is her favorite boat.

Well said and I agree 100%.

What amazes me is how few of the over the top paint jobs stand the test of time.
For those that can afford to swap out new boats every few years and stay current with the trends, God bless.
For me, I like a timeless look and feel. With all the "best paint", "worst paint", and "over the top" threads, I was surprised there was not one like this before.

The problem with the builder being able to execute whatever the new owner wishes - is peoples own lousy taste.

The upside to production boats (formula, baja etc.) is the owner gets what he gets and usually cant make it worse with options.

Reminds me of the lime green Laveycraft tunnel "Holy Guacamole" The guy owned an avocado farm and wanted a green striped boat.

It was extremely well executed but ugly as sin.

I agree. Less is better. Quent (just kidding)

Uncle Dave 04-11-2012 03:43 PM

Im totally guilty of lifting one of Quents prior designs for my own purposes. (with permission of course)

neither of my current rides could be accused of being part of the less is more theory- but I do like it when done tastefully.

That is a great looking boat!

I also like the '188 tribute boat'. It has activity, but still suttle in the color choices.
