Since there are so many threads on over the top bad paint jobs, I thought I would start one based on "Less is More".
There are many great great "plain" Vanilla and Chocolate paint schemes that stand the test of time. Here are some of my favorites!

I'll go ahead and reserve this spot for later editing when I can dig up some of my favorites later on.

I love simple and clean stuff, not just on Boats.

Here's me - hopefully it will stand the test of time. I'm probably going to own it forever based on what Cafe's have been listed for lately.:evilb:

Here is the paint job on my grandfathers Hustler. I know it's a picture of a picture but I don't have many good ones on my computer. Always loved his paint job. Also think you can't really go wrong with all white.

From post #1. (Thanks, Tom!)

As delivered and run from 2000-2004, and as repainted in 2007.

Yea, I belong on this thread! I like simple graphics and have always liked the Velocity "V" graphic from these years.

I think the "simpler" schemes look classier:

offshoredrillin 04-06-2012 08:31 PM

I never saved the pics, but before i bought the Tiger, there was a 43 Nor-tech I was looking at. All blue and white with bolster seating in the rear, the original owner was a diver/photographer and the boat had all types of underwater lighting. just a beautiful boat all around.

Agreed. There's a timeless elegance in a simple, crisp graphics scheme.

thirdchildhood 04-09-2012 07:41 AM

I enjoy seeing the cartoon themed MTIs and other expensive paint jobs. Even the Ice Cream Fountain, if the owner owned an ice cream store, is OK with me. Some paint schemes simply go out of style and that must suck for the boaters who paid thousands of $ for custom paint. It's just the truly tasteless paint jobs and the flea market air brush jobs that look terrible to me. You are always safe with solid white or mostly white though.

cookee 04-09-2012 08:12 AM

Here's the before and after - I actually like the plain white but sponsors colours rule if they're paying!

Well here's my 292 at the factory before any paint. Definitely looks clean all white.

I think the paint pattern we went with is somewhat understated, although maybe not the colors. The final choice had to satisfy not only me, but also the boss (wife). I think the compromise worked out pretty well...

The only lake I've never boated on in California. My wife keeps threatening to rent a house some summer up there. How is it, good boating, cold water, etc.? I won't take the offshore to Tahoe anymore, too much work and a rough haul up the grade. Never mind that it's so cold the kids dont want to swim.
