Default alpha one

does anyone know if a mercruiser 470 uses an alpha one outdrive like they use in the 3.0,4.3,5.0,5.7 thanks for any info

we used to have a deck boat that had the 470 and it had the old mercruiser drive, it was a 84 model. I think that old drive did turn into a alpha one..that was the big 4cylinder right...170hp

the early Merc MR's and the Alpha's are interchangeable. All the 470's I've seen were swing'in Alphas

alpha yes but they have a different gear ratio than a 5.7

thanks for all the info, buddy of mine hit stump last year broke the alpha found doner boat with merc 470 just wasn't sure. thanks again
