I always buy Shell 93 octane for many years, no alcohol in their 93 octane.,pretty easy to find a Shell gas station around here.

Yeah I wasn't happy, but I think he was misinformed so I left it alone. Bottom line, test the gas to make sure.

What do you have to do to test it for ethanol? There's a res. by met that has ethanol free signs out front but I'd like to know for sure.

YES you can test it, i have tested my local station to see how close to 10% ethanol it was and it was 9-10%. i also tested some "91 octane non ethanol fuel" i bought on Grand island a few weeks ago, it tested with no ethanol present.

i also saw a station here in Rochester NY that sells 89 non ethanol, what i can figure out is why these 2 gas stations i found are about 40-50 cents a gallon up charge for the the non ethanol fuel VS the 10% ethanol fuel they also sell??????

Anyway heres the tester i bought, search with the part# and you can find it cheaper at another place but this was the first link i found to it to show you guys.

you simply fill it with a certain amount of water, fill to the line with gas, shake it up real good then little it settle. if it has ethanol it will absorb the water and move the separation line up on the vile to show the percentage. if theres no ethanol present the separation line will go right back to where it was before you shook it up.

Thank you for bringing this back up. The list had drastically expanded since the last time I checked a year or so ago.

Generally, marinas have ethanol free gas. Where you are in WV I might check at the Raleigh County Memorial Airport. Might ask the golf course or some of the mining companies if they use ethanol free and if so where they acquire it. If there is a wholesale fuel distributor in the area that can be another research source.

I have heard it called different things like off road gas and sport 90, but I am fairly sure it is all the same. I forget where I was, but a dealer for snow machines and ATVs had a pump in the service area (outside) and it was the ethanol free fuel.

I don't even want to get into or start the debate about ethanol removal additives.

I know of someone who tested it, came back good, also NOco on rt 5 and noco on the island have 89, no good for you thou:lolhit:
