What do you have to do to test it for ethanol? There's a res. by met that has ethanol free signs out front but I'd like to know for sure.
Come back an hour later and the ethanol will bond with the water and settle to the bottom. If the water is still at your sharpie mark then there is no ethanol in the fuel. If it is above your sharpie line the there is ethanol(or water, or both) in the fuel. |

I always buy Shell 93 octane for many years, no alcohol in their 93 octane.,pretty easy to find a Shell gas station around here.
In Detroit the only stations with non ethanol are the Marinas. I talked to Barrick who distributes Shell, BP and Valero and ALL the on the road gas has Ethanol now. Some Marinas have Ethanol free gas. Wannabe |

HOW do you test it?
Blackhawk-I tested the gas they shown in Evart and it HAD Ethanol so the list is BS somewhat, I will test the gas in Harrison this summer as my cabin is there, Smitty |
The Pure Gas list is maintained my the users. If a station goes from non ethanol to ethanol fuel, the websited does not update it. Its left to the users to correct information. Before traveling any distance to buy non ethanol fuel from that list, I would call first. Half the time who ever you get on the phone doesnt know a thing about the fuel being sold. Lastly its wise to test the fuel to comfirm.
Its a good tool, but its not 100% accurate. |

They are hard to find now for sure, thank you for the link

Ethanol free?
Well here's a really big surprise....seems our native American friends on the local res have a different meaning to "ethanol free gasoline" I purchased an ethanol test kit that was approved by some aircraft certifying agency, tested a sample from a 5 gallon can I bought of the stuff before filling my tanks and low and behold...it's 10 percent ethanol!
