If you can't get your motor to fire at the launch check your drive engagement lever. I fell victim to the neutral safety switch gremlin by 1/8th of an inch and 20+ minutes of holding up the launch Saturday.

Better yet, if your motor/s won't fire within 5-8 minutes of cranking, kindly move your vessel to the side of the ramp or retrieve your boat for further investigation. Around here, Memorial Day is historically the first day at the ramp for alot of folks. I have seen too many that will not have touched their boats since last Labor Day, come to the ramp and SEE if she will start. No offense, just be courteous.

I was Soo pissed cause id already ran it a month prior to make sure it was all good to go.

It's amazing in a time like that how flustered you can get that you don't check the simplest stuff first and jump right into trying to find these extravagant causes to your current dilemma.

Anyhow figured I'd share a laugh at my expense with you guys.

Been there done that lol. I also tried to start on the hose in the driveway, cranked one motor, would not start, moved hose to the other, would not start, before I noticed the tether had been pulled over the winter. Felt pretty stupid at that point.

I did the same thing - difference was I made it to the ramp, ready to go then spent half of the weekend trying to figure it out before I realized I'd taken the life jackets out for the winter and they kill switches were attached.

I'm glad my only scare this year was a loose battery connection which was fixed quick! Of course I wasn't on a ramp and wasn't going anywhere by boat just getting it ready for next weekend......:whistle:

In the past I'd been stumped first time out by the fuse switches all being thrown from putting it away for winter.:lolhit:

First year out I was sidelined for 8 hours one day and had to come back due to a blown main fuse on the block! Nobody seemed to even know it existed till I asked on here. I kept describing what seemed like a blown fuse to me and none of the "mechanics" I asked ever mentioned it.

I always start the engines at the shop before I go to the ramp. I would rather have an issue at home then at the dock.
