As u can tell from my name u can see I'm a professional!!

1st- on exhaust tips- use hydrochloric acid!! But make sure u rinse really well other wise it will rust.

2nd- on hard water spots, to do it right u need to use a product that is really a special type of acid, if they are TRUELY hard water spots it's the only thing that will really work!! But u definately have to know what your doing and how to use it!! Try googling a company called P&S detailing products, they make a special product called water spot remover, I use something a little stronger called alluminum brighter, don't be alarmed, again I know what I'm doing. After you do this then yes u must re wax boat.

3rd- the Driven Marine polish is a great product, easy to work with and lasts, also nothing hardly sticks to it. I use it on all the boats my company does.

If anyone happens to have any questions, feel free to email me or call me, I'm happy to help OSO people.

Hot Sauce for water spots.. boat candy works also but has more of a wax residue. I use both products. Best by far for mufflers is Biokleen fiberglass cleaner. No polishing, two minutes they will look like new no matter how bad they are. Buy the Fiberglass cleaner not the metal cleaner... no typo

Also make sure to wipe down your boat with a soaked towel soaked with water out of the lake. This will neutralize the spots and then dry with a dry towel. Hot sauce will get all the tough ones. I used to use vinegar but it removes too much wax.

Straight vinegar for the stainless tips and your outdrive. Dilute it with distilled water for the rest of the boat. Works and is cheap. I agree that hydrochloric acid will clean the stainless tips, but unnecessary and not worth the risk of getting it on something else (like the previous owner got it on my trailer and etched the paint).

Thanks guys! I had actually tried CLR and fiberglass cleaner and neither were doing much. A little rubbing with the vinegar and the mufflers look like new!

The vinegar works great and is cheap i just purchased some of the products from Proformance Boat Candy including the speed gloss and I'm happy with that as well. I really liked the compound and polish from them. I know this is off topic but thought I'd add a very useful way of removing hard to remove stains from vinyl is to get a good vinyl cleaner and use a magic eraser. The magic eraser and some good vinly cleaner does wonders.

Some how the boat hull was coated with water spots from last fall when I washed it prior to winter storage, guess I had forgotten to wipe it dry. It was coated with a significant spots you could feel, probably a lot of mineral in the water. I wiped down the boat hull with vinegar prior to waxing and it's a extremely efficient and cheap product to use for water spot removal.

Use this stuff on hull after it is waxed up. Not for mufflers or tips, vinegar and steel wool work too well.
