not legal because the gen is not CG approved for engine room use, but if you understand the potential risks and it is installed well, many people have used them this way without issues. I would want to make sure that if the exhaust was leaking that it had no way to get anywhere other than the engine room and out the vents, not into other spaces in the boat.
Also those Honda's have a gas cap vent that you would need to make sure is always in the closed position when not in use.

•Stage-5 Stereo System

Apparently in this application it is USCG approved, but be that as it may... it is part of the sound system!

Not chance in he!! that is Coast Guard approved. No spark protection and no overboard fuel tank venting, that is some stereo installer's idea. And when it went boom the insurance company would say "Oh so sorry!"

While it's NOT USCG approved... I don't see what the huge deal is. Run you blower, make sure there are no leaks on fuel & exhaust.
Tons of people have their Amps in the engine bay... the electronics on that are just as dangerous as the genny.
Personally, I don't have the room for this in my engine bay so I strap the 2000 to the swim step and installed a shorepower plug-in back there. With the external 5 gallon fuel tank, I can run the A/C for a few nights when we are camping.
Here is another guys setup in the engine compartment...

Same thing as towing a 38 foot boat with a 1500 Pickup, you can do it all day long. But why give the insurance company a way to walk away from the claim and leave you to face all the lawsuits?
