Got a new boat!!!

The next stage in my boating experience is just beginning. I got a new boat. New to me anyways. Just brought home a 36 Baja Outlaw with twin 525sc. The whole crew at Grand Sport Center was really good to work with and have been there for all of my questions. I'd also like to thank Sy Goldberg, Dennis at Elton Porter, and Suzie at Wake Zone and all the other's who helped me through the process so that I could get this boat home safe and sound. The former owner was OSO member PaulB32 and he has gone above and beyond in helping me get familiar with this boat. I can't say enough. So far this boat has been a blast and I cant wait to spend more time getting to know it.

Trying to post photos but its taking forever to upload them. This is the link to Grand Sport's website with plenty of pics on there. What sold me on the model is the combination of performance but comfortable accomodations for overnighting. Good luck in your search.

Very nice. Glad it all went through with no problems. Can't wait to see it in person.

Congrats , very nice boat . When you bringing it to Raystown Lake ? We have a sizable contingent of Pittsburgers here . I just met a young systems analyst from Delmont this past Saturday that was floating a Baha similar to your new one . Hope to see you there , deep

RollWithIt 06-20-2012 03:17 PM

Thanks guys. Ive been looking for some years now for a great boat to step up to and definately found one. Now that I have the boat and truck combo, Im definately planning on doing some vacations and weekends with it. Raystown, Cumberland, LOTO, Erie,...Here I come. :)

Cat, Pittsburgh Princess?? Was it Jackie Evanchko? If so, she has a phenomenal voice for such a little girl.

Yes Jackie. There were 72 of us who watched her performance on a webcam in her chatroom. Her mother told us there will be a DVD out so I will let you know when I see it.

Here are Jackie and Korean soprano Sumi Jo right before the concert. Sharon Osbourne was right when she told Jackie, "your voice is gonna take you all over the world";

What truck did you buy to tow your new boat?

Racerngr1 06-20-2012 07:51 PM

Cash Bar 06-20-2012 07:54 PM

Jason, I couldn't be more proud to see you boating again in a bigger, better boat. Looking forward to seeing you at the events now. You can make Chris your rope biitch.

Baja226sport 06-20-2012 08:08 PM

Congrats, nice looking baja. Should roll out pretty good too! Get some vids of it running when you take those trips!

ChrisK 06-20-2012 09:17 PM

Rope biitch? really.... YOU of all people just went there? :poopoo:

RollWithIt 06-20-2012 09:44 PM

I was surprised at how easy it gets on plane and then just takes off. I plan on getting a Gopro camera at some point and doing some videos.

Cat, I got a Dodge Ram 3500 Diesel. Its a 2003 but I can pull 15000lbs with it and this boat on trailer is less than that. Got the truck 3 years ago in anticipation of getting a bigger boat.

Chris... Dont take that crap from Greg!! Greg... Dont let Chris call you out like that!! :food-smiley-007:

mike tkach 06-20-2012 10:18 PM

Here's a few more pics. So far the fastest I've had it at was 69 mph edging towards 70. But that is with 3 on board, lots of gas and temps in the 90's with high humidity. Its only running 4 to 5 lbs of boost. I can change the pulleys for more speed but dont want to sacrifice longevity with the motors. I have no doubt that with cooler temps and possibly playing with the props etc.. I can get some more mph out of it.

RollWithIt 06-21-2012 10:00 PM

rmfriday, I saw the boat there with the Captain on the front deck. Its going to be a madhouse there on that Saturday. I might bring my boat up a couple days in advance and tie of with some of my buddies. They are all along the wall in front of Bettis Grill. I'll look for your velocity there. Im sure Ive seen it on the river before.

sommerfliesby 06-22-2012 08:01 AM

Congrats! We're gonna miss it and it's former crew on Lake Michigan! I rode with Paul and Lisa last year for a day...definately a solid boat...and an awesome overnighter.

RollWithIt 06-22-2012 10:36 AM

Dont worry, they will be back. Paul said he plans on getting another that will be able to keep up with the rest of you on a regular basis. But his temporary loss is definately my gain. Im looking forward to enjoying this boat.

You must have the dually HO. I had a SRW 3500 HO and it was rated 14,300lbs. on the receiver hitch. My 06 was a dually rated 15,850. This is per Sydwayz in the Truck forum.

RollWithIt -Grand Sport Center and I appreciate the kind words. We treat others how we'd like to be treated. I'll miss that boat but I am happy it went to good hands and know it will continue to stay nice.

To my Chicago mates, thanks also for the kind words, we'll see you out there still, even if it is in our little ski boat. We'll be back again...... another chapter gets written.....

huskyrider 06-23-2012 02:19 PM

RollWithIt,

Congrats on your new boat, she looks very sweet indeed!!!
I'm certain y'all are goint to have some fantastic boating aboard her.
If you don't mind I have a couple of questions.
Your motors are the same as mine, 525sc's. What's your pitch on the props and where were you on RPM's at the near 70 speed, and how high is the headroom in the salon?

Thanks and WAY TO GO on your new boat!!!

See ya,
Kelly

RollWithIt 06-23-2012 04:10 PM

Cat, I have a single rear wheel with the 5.9 HO. From the research I have been able to find the truck is rated for 15k. The problem is I have seen different ratings for the same truck at different sites. They don't make it easy to find out what a vehicle is truely rated for. Either way, this boat on trailer is still under 14K.

Husky, the boat has 26 pitch 4 blade bravo props. I dont know the drive ratio at this time but Im sure its in the volumes of manuals and information Paul provided me. I want to say the RPMs were either 4500 or 4800. I'll double check the next time I'm out running it. Only really got to run it one day so far so Im still learning all its habits. I havent measured the head room in the salon but it has to be around 5' Im 6' 225 and can move around comfortably but I do have to duck down a little.
