That is a favorite, regular trip but yes on the trailer to there. Still getting the new rig in order to know we get out/back w/no issues before we do the big trips.
We were down 2 wks ago but got rained out.
Buddy of mine was down last weekend and said water was flat as a billiard table entire time! I've only seen that on one of our trips.

So if you guys were wanting to come to South Florida and run down into the Keys, when would you do it? Normally up here in the Gulf I would say June or July. After the spring storms but before Hurricane season gets reved up. We just had a little Baja get together in Orange Beach a few weeks ago and nearly got rained out so I guess I did not wait long enough LOL. I want to start making plans for next year as it will take most of my vacation to do this (why rush this trip?). When you head down through the Keys do you generally run the Atlantic side or the Gulf Side? Are there frequent options for changing sides as the weather changes? I have driven the overseas highway a few times in the past few years but it is different from being on the water when you look for this sort of thing.

Sorry Sonic, don't mean to hyjack your great Sebastian thread.

That was mid July last year, I went down in May this year, and got some rain, but the water was flat, so I would say mid june to Mid July would be best. Also, believe it or not, the summer is the "OFF" season in the keys, rooms can be cheaper. We run Biscayne Bay(the inside) to Card Sound, then thru Jewfish Creek to the Gulf(bay)side of the keys. The inside is good 'til ya get around marathon(halfway to key west), past there it gets a little tight, most switch over to the Atlantic at that point, I have never personally run that far down.
