Alarm was a couple hundred bucks. Had to pay to have installed by an authorized python (Dei) installer in order to activate the smart start function. Then it is like an extra $100 or so a year for the service.

There are plenty of theifs with the balls big enough to do that. Think about it, Back up to the traile takes second (especially if you have a back up camera) no need for anyone to help line you up. Get out crank the handle and your gone. Probably took less than 30 seconds. I know I can hook my trailer up in 30 seconds or less and I am not in a hurry.....

Wouldn't a good lock on the trailer tongue latch slow them down a bit?

not trying to give anyone ideas but...anyone can tow a trailer without the ball, simply shorten up the safety chains and voila you are on your way. are you going to tow 1,000 miles like this? no, but it gets a theif to a safe place.

I would look at this as opportunity to upgrade. Collect the insurance money and step up.
