In the Superboat Vee class, Bob Oliver of King of Prussia, PA, driving Firewater was trailing Muscle by no more than 15 seconds the entire race until the last lap when Muscle ran out of gas on the last lap. With this win Firewater takes the lead in the national points standing for the season. “We have come in second to many times and this win gives us momentum heading into the Deerfield race next weekend,” said Oliver. Firewater is a 40-foot Fountain with twin 800-horsepower engines and finished with a winning time of 1:03:41 and an avg. speed of 97.93 mph. According to Oliver the boat was hitting 120 mph down the back straight away.

Reggie was in Sarasota, The number of boats were way down from the APBA events, spectators disappointed on the number of boats, Sunday's delays turttle then rain. There were alot of spectators on the beach until the rain started. Drivers meeting was disorganized as compared to other circuit, SBI not careful on addressing safety issues on boat inspection, the parade on thursday went well. Overall the racing was good. Locals want a larger event. SBI entry fees high for outlaw classes. The preceeding is what I observed

Just got in from Sarasota a few hours ago. It was a really great event. Thanx to John Carbonell and the rest of the SBI Team for putting on a good event. Good Old Mother Nature and a few dam Turtles delayed things alot on Sunday. Just really happy SBI was able to get the race off and finished. One thing we can not control is MOTHER NATURE. Man is it WETTTTT in Sarasota!!!!!
Want to Congratulate Bob Oliver and the rest of the FIREWATER Team. Great run guys keep up the good work. Also want to congratulate all the other winners too.
My biggest Thanx I would like to post on here is to Reggie Fountain and the rest of the Fountain Powerboats Team for all the help and time you guys gave to us so we could be there in Sarasota.
The Boat Lost the Starboard side trim tab 2/3 of the way into lap one. Thumbs up to Rich and Pat for keeping it running with that tab stuck down in the water. We will have her fixed for Deerfield next weekend and will give it another shot against probably from what I can see one of th Toughest and Strongest Super V fleets that I can remember.
Sorry Ron P and Bodyshot no photos this trip. There was way too much to be done at this event to run away and take pictures. I will try to shoot some pics in Deerfield. Sorry guys, making sure Rich and Pat were ready to attack was a lil more important then shotting pics.
