Boat Cover Vents

Anybody install and use these vents?

http://www.iboats.com/Boat-Vent-II-S...view_id.208961

Looking to add vents to my cover. Does the type of material come into play with these? My material is "8 oz. Marine Poly-Guard". It is a Carver cover.

Thanks in advance.

My covers were made using these vents. Mine are made of Sunbrella fabric and have no issues with mold or towing 75mph for hundreds of miles.

I have them an love them. Sunbrella but I think they will work on any material. Artie

Did you install them yourself?

No but I have had them off. They just screw together. Easy

I read the instructions on them, yes, seems real easy. I'm worried about the fabric unraveling when I make the hole cut.

Does your fabric have any reinforcement at the hole cut? Factory heat gun cut?

I'm going to look. I will let You know in a few min's

fixx

you cant just install them,,you will need to have a circle of aqualon fabric sewed in for extra support around them..after that i would not have a cover with out them..sunbrella is goos when you first buy it but after a few years and keep having to seal it every year with 303 it gets way old quick..

i likw aqualon fabric a whole lot better,,its madw of the same sunbrella fabric but its sealed with com posit resins an it will NOT leak at all..

you will most likely find them cheaper here..

Yes theres some heavy black nylone material stiched in a square a little larger than the vent. Sorry no way to take an post a picture here right now. Artie

Thanks "AKA", that's what I was afraid of.

Fixx, I will look into that material for a cover. Depending on price, I might just take the chance of cutting the hole and use a liquid nail type formula to seal the edge and put some reinforcement, if that fails, new cover. Old cover is kicking the 2 year mark, 3 Texas summers though.
