We still get on the road everday though. Point said we know the risk. We choose to take it. Runing your boat up the water as fast as u want is one of the last freedoms we have left. Im an avid fisherman and im watching my passion being ripped apart by government and conservation groups. trust me the last thing the sport needs is nazi police. JMHO Besides if you govern speed on these water ways all thats gonna happen is people are gonna run offshore to haul AZZ and thats even more dangerous
Wow! So running offshore in an "Offshore" boat is dangerous? What exactly is the name of this site? You just reaffirmed what I said on the other thread that offshore racing is dead and gone. May she Rest in Peace.

A common misperception. They are like having a really hot wife. Really good to have, but it's not gonna last forever.

Perhaps another perspective on this whole thing is that big, fast boats are probably best wrung out on large, lightly travelled waterways, and also perhaps not at the same time other adrenaline and testosterone junkies are doing the same.

When a large number of boats get together for a run, coordination and safety must become paramount. There are typically a lot of people in the boats just along for the ride, and perhaps not even aware of the potential dangers. Furthermore, as a sport, when we get together en masse, and attract a lot of attention, thats the worst time for something to go wrong. That's why the Harley riders get police escorts for their land-based poker runs.

So, I say if you want to race, go enter sanctioned races. If you want to go test, take the proper precautions and go for broke somewhere safe. Similarily if you have a score to settle over whose rig is faster, do that out of sight too. At the poker runs, just make the run and enjoy the day, because in the eyes of the public and the lawmakers, its a parade. Be smart so we get to keep the right to act stupid when prudent. It shouldn't be the boat telling you you're going too fast.

Yes, on a Poker Run bring the d amn boat home in one piece, everybody's watching....I cant believe some people on here don't get that

People are saying, "He knew the risks"...."he hurt his own boat, s hit happens" Were not talking about that, were talking about if that boat had of hooked hard and plowed into some spectator boats....again I cant believe some people on this site don't get that and it's very disappointing.

Next time I go to the Thousand Islands I dont want to be informed there is a 35mph speed limit.
