Great job Lets Rock!
I never wore my lanyards until I got the Tres Martin wrist strap, now I always wear it. Easy on and off, just as comfortable as a watch. |
wow!
not many stories about heroism and compassion for your fellow man make it the front pages any more. glad to hear that theres some folks still around with grit and a sense of right action. sadly...those qualities are a dying breed. god job Lets Rock. |
Let's Rock is the best boating story of 2012! Great Job!
Hey Sy, Just as a side note, the roll would be covered but then wouldn't be covered after the roll? Then would the damage be covered in the case of the "save the swimmers" and damage the boat in the process (on purpose)? I would think the guy with the 46 Limited would have the resources to make it right for the Let's Rock guy regardless of insurance but was just wondering what the company would think of the situation. |

I wear mine just above my knee on my thigh. On my wrist it felt it was getting in way, on my ankle it was getting too stretched, thigh was just right.
I don't understand why they can't just make a circuit on the kill switch to the lanyard, to the starter. In other word, your boat won't run unless you're wearing it. |

Fail.
[QUOTE=Smarty;3758149]Why is it ignorant? Factual, not ignorant. QUOTE]
Fail. State your facts. I am aware of two - this one and one involving the owner of the company (my understanding is the latter was caused by a third-party component failure that has been rectified by the component manufacturer and not hull design or operator error). You are right that the important thing is that, in both cases, everyone lived to ride another day - but turning this unfortnuate event into an opportunity to inaccurately bash a particular brand of boat is ignorant - on many levels. Correct me if I am mistaken. |

You are correct, I am only aware two this year. I will am not taking the bait, I am not bashing OL, but you are factually mistaken if you believe that there has been two boats involved in accidents in the history of OL. I do not want to get into this, it is not important to me at all, and will serve no purpose. I like the OL product. PM me with any questions or concerns. |

Hat's off to Let's Rock. They did a great job preventing this from being any worse than it was.
I am not sure how or why it happened but thankfully no one got killed. This could have been a lot worse based on what we know (boat flipped, people got ejected, boat kept circling after the accident). Thoughts and prayers to all involved. I know the owner of the boat but I was not there and do not know any more than what has already been said. |
I am just trying to grasp how the "Let's Rock" crew managed to do what they did to stop the boat. Way to go guys!

True Americans. Excellent human character shown here. Nice work Let's Rock. :)
Kind of off topic but didn't the original owner of LR punch Stu Jones on a FL Powerboat Club run several years ago??? :angry-smiley-038: |

Wow, what a story and definitely makes you feel good.
I have so much respect for the Lets Rock crew! I'd also like any more details of what happened and how? |

Damn I live right here on the bay and never heard anything about it or the bay rocks deal. I heard something about a boat accident some where near Tangier Island in Virginia but I didnt get all of the story like you guys did. Im glad everyone is ok. Have to always wear your leash I call it cause the way we ride a lot of the time we could get thrown as well. I have been running boats since I was 6years old and if your not reading the motion ocean right it will certainly hurt you. Cudos to the gent who change direction of the circling boat caue unless it ran out of fuel it would have ran all of them down eventiualy.

The Tres Martin ones are really nice and durable. I have two on my skater and where them on my ankle or clip it to the lifeline when running hard. Nice Product.

The crew of Let’s Rock did something courageous to save the other boaters in distress here and are to be congratulated. As I stated earlier, one of the first rules of the sea is to help fellow boaters in distress, But the Coast Guard always adds “But don’t get killed yourself in doing it.” The technique they used is pretty risky and requires not only some serious boat handling skills, but more than a little luck.
There is however another way to stop an out of control boat and it’s both simpler and less risky. I carry a 5/8” diameter 75’ long polypro “tubing tow line.” As you might guess, my boat isn’t set up for tubing. So why do I carry it? First, it’s a great tow line if somebody needs a tow. Second, you can use it as a prop fouling line. All you need to do is toss it or lay it out in the path of the out of control boat. (Polypro floats.) Make sure you don’t tie the rope to anything and get out of the way. If you do tie it to something, you run the risk getting pulled into the other boat. Repeat until you get the desired result. Just a thought. Let's be safe out there! |

Friend once asked me what is the difference between standing in the bed of a pick up truck at 100 and running 100 in a performance boat??? Not Much!!
Truck is probably safer because you are typically on flat ground that doesnt change, But in most states its illegal. |
