Boat accident - Pasadena, MD.
|
Boy, that one sounds bad.
|
Looks like the bowrider hit the other boat? Lot of damage to both...that had to be a pretty high speed crash...
|
at night :( How in the hell do you not see the other boat's light, and slow down and stop if necessary when it keeps getting bigger and brighter.
|
It sounds like everyone may be okay. From all the pics it looks like small sport boat was hit by the other boat that was pulling a tuber. And with the hit being on the left side of the sport boat it would seem they had right of way. Of course there is a State Senator involved so if he was driving the tubing boat the sport boat guy will probably be locked up for 10-15. :angry-smiley-038:

Unreal how this stuff happens. The place it happened is just across the river from us.

Just knowing that a politician was involved makes certain parts of my body quiver. I hope everybody ends up OK.

http://edgewater.patch.com/articles/...roys-two-boats sorry crappy pixs but it was 6AM ... very close to Marks IrishMist and Don' High Roller boats, same pier.. Pat |
Look for new speed laws on the Magothy River. This is just the thing these folks (power boat haters) have been looking for to get it done. First they got rid of the Bumper Bash and soon nothing will move on that river over a snails pace after this.
|
^^^^^^ Especially since the witness has the BAM speed calculator memorized. He can calculate the rpms of the engine just hearing them. Next he will post the prop slip numbers.
"You could really hear the engine, it was going pretty fast,” said Allen Woytowitz, who lives on the watershed. Really? |

Yup, even though it looks like the bow rider plowed the side of the "speedboat"(as they refer to it in the articles), because it was loud he must have been at fault... I am SPECULATING here, my guess as to what happened the bow rider was pulling a tuber and was probably turning frequently, maybe not paying 100%attention to what was in front........ Maybe looking back at the tuber... Just a guess....

based on the impact appearing to be the side of the speed boat i agree with you guys, Again just speculating,
But you know what they say "Them damn cigar boats" |

Well, he is doubly screwed because he has now admitted drinking before the accident and he is a Republican in an all Dem state, they are going to crucify him. And of course one of the Mom/Witnesses said the tubing boat was trying to avoid him but suddenly he just "turned right into them". I have never been able to hit the center of a boat's bow when I turned right into them, guess he has some mad skills...
|
Well, he just had a presser and admitted drinking and made the statement "It was said I had a .2% Blood Alcohol Content" :angry-smiley-038:
F him, he deserves whatever he gets. |
I don't even understand how this happens. When I'm coming up on anyone, if I have the right away or not I always leave enough room for everyone involved to make a couple mistakes and still not crash. There is a lot of room out there for this to happen in such small boats.
If the bow rider was pulling a tube and not paying attention it was lucky he hit the boat and everyone lived instead of missing the boat and slingshot tube rider into the other boat. The rider would not have survived that. |
Well I guess all of us Maryland boaters can look forward to frequent DNR and Coast Guard boardings and harassment now thanks to this guy. Especially since every "loud" boat must being going fast and reckless.
