Thumbs up Holy Cow !!

What's in a name ?

A customer of Sharkey-Images KELLY O', owns a 35 ft Fountain Powerboat named "HOLY COW !!".
Prior years he and his wife owned a Checkmate named "MILK CHECK". After a blower motor was put in, it was called "BLOWN MILK CHECK".

After deciding to buy a bigger boat he and his wife went to look at the FOUNTAIN and when she saw it she stated, "HOLY COW !!"
A close friend also mentioned they practice their faith which is why this whole name just works being as they own a Dairy Farm.

I had the pleasure of taking a tour of their farm. It was beyond an amazing experience to say the least......

Please take the virtual tour as the technology and the care for their animals is 2nd to none !

Taking a peek at the inside of some high performance boaters daily lives such as this, I feel it can be quite interesting.

Kelly O' is a perfect example of such a contrast between their weekday life vs their weekend life.

Electronic bracelets and Data recorders.

Read up on it here:

Oakwood Dairy goes high-tech with disease prevention

And yes, we almost did a photo shoot of the FOUNTAIN surrounded by cows but it was already getting so late I needed to get on the road. I still had another 6 or 7 hours of driving to go....

Neat thread Tim

Very impressive operation

How the heck do you get time to go boating ?

Does milk get controlled through a Milk Marketing Board like it does here in Canada ???

Tim's thread idea is a fun one, as I always looked forward to reading the "Meet The Players" section of PRA magazine to get an idea of who the boaters were the other 6 days of the week.

Like any business, our success is due to the dedication of our 30+ team members working together. This would include covering for each other to provide time away from work to pursue our 'other' passions. A difficult task considering this is literally a 24/7/365 operation. Many times during the year I spend all 24 hours in a day on work alone. Boating provides escape, therapy, and a break from work that helps re-focus energy and prioritize tasks.

No quota system here to control supply and stabilize price. We have grown in size for several reasons, most involving economies of scale and providing means for technology adaptation. Our next venture is into processing where the value-added attributes will come into play.

Thanks Tim for helping show why I may be a little too tired to party all night after a run.

I look forward to seeing who the next guy is you 'expose' to learn a little more about this diverse crowd.

What is the next level in your industry ?
For example, who would you sell to?
A wholesaler/packager or do you align yourself with an end retailer so that all your product goes to whoever produces for Walmart for example.

If you don't have a marketing board in your state, can you ever find yourself in the position of having too much milk ??

Beautiful looking operation btw

Thumbs up

Very well done Sharkey!

I have not known Kelly for a long time but was impressed from the onset with his work ethic, his love of, and dedication to what he does for a living. Though Kelly would tell you he is just a simple farmer, this operaton is far beyond that. When one works hard, one deserves to play hard. Samantha and I have been lucky to spend some time with Kelly and Julie this summer, the Buffalo Run was the best time for us all season.

I do have to wonder if he uses the spray detailer on the cows, they look pretty fine!
