If that's true, Lake TV could find themselves in deep water unless a release form was signed. If the injuries were as they say there could be litigation and the video is evidence. Also the passengers might not want it on TV...the list goes on....

They shouldn't have posted unless all occupants gave permission. For what, so a few can learn something? That's great and all but maybe, just maybe, there's a lot more at stake for the owner of the boat and it's passengers.

One thing is for sure. The driver was going way to fast for conditions, and his ability to drive through them.
I agree, I have made a few go pro vids and I can tell you by the wind in that video they are doing well over 20-30 mph

The first part of the vid is him getting on plane and trimming and tabbing up. There is a cut that comes back to WOT and wind blown hair, followed by light switch throttles and the accident.

I wish there was a video facing forward as well, or someone to actually explain this accident.

I boated all summer from clarksville tn to nashville (about 12 round trips)... was there during the cmt fest on the river front. Rafted up until 1am... then cruised back to rock harbor.

Never saw one law enforcement boat... with someone in it.

Back home in indiana now and these pricks run around like dogs in heat.
On the river there is very little enforcement because there isn't much recreational boat traffic compared to Old Hickory and Priest Lakes.

Nothing is going to stop a bunch of guys getting together and running but the organized poker runs are really what I love to do and want to keep around as a lot of people plan their whole summer around the Poker Run Schedules.

(Was that good enough for the English majors on this forum? I was typing on my phone and I sincerely apologize for not being diligent with my Elocution!)

The guy in the fountain Throttled it wrong without a counter steer and ended up on his head. As a x racer myself, i think we need to see this stuff to make us think what could happen and maybe we will think before some WOT at times.. But that is just me.

As far as go pro and stuff. I know for a fact we take more chances because it is on film. When you are on film you tend to" Go For It". This may have been the problem. Never operate a boat like that even w 1 beer in ya. Period

Not to mention the lawyers.

I read how everyone wants 'government' to just leave us alone and stop regulating us. But you have to ask why are there rules and regulations in the first place. Because as whole we are not truly capable of using proper judgment or common sense. We have to protect ourselves from ourselves. Whether you agree or not it is our society, just look at the DWI, texting while driving, securing loose loads on trailers laws just to name a few. Most would completely agree, driving while drunk is stupid, texting while trying to drive is stupid and having rocks or equipment not properly secured to a trailer is stupid; but yet there are laws on the books that try and prevent accidents and tragedies because of past accidents and tragedies prior to the laws and rules (whew!). And still people don't adhere to them, today drunks, texters and lazy truck drivers will be on our road ways. Fortunately there are less than before the laws but non the less they are there. These laws should make most people think twice about their actions, but why have them if we all just used common sense in the first place? We as a whole we're sadly incapable and it will never change, until we are able to do the right thing laws and rules will continue to be in place and events like this one will not help prevent future rules and laws.

Sorry for the rant.

Onboard video was all the rage 5-10 years ago when I was into the crotchrocket scene. Several of my buddies had them and the first think LEO wanted when he pulled them over was the tape. One guy even carried a magnet with him so he could wipe the thing in a hurry (this predates the current technology - no idea what a magnet will to do a mini chip). Unfortunately, once there has been an accident or an asserted illegal activity, erasing the tape = destroying evidence and can create a world of criminal or civil hurt. The best thing is to operate your vehicle (car, bike, boat, parachute, whatever) in a safe and sane manner. If you can't do that, be smart enough to turn the camera off.

After all, what are those famous last words? "Hay, Jake, watch this!"
