Commentary: 32 Doug Wright Poker Run Edition Plays the Part
Do you know what John "Kap" Caparell went through to get his 32 Doug Wright ready for the LOTO Shootout? Find out how he got his 600-hp, 32-footer to run 113 mph...

Jason,
Definitely a nice ride and run but all of us would love to see some video of the run? Does he have a any footage? Thanks |
I'll check with Kap and see what's he documented, if anything.

32 foot with twin 300 o/b over 110 mph that is a very nice speed for a large boat , I don't think the other company's smaller 30's will run that fast with the same power

mike (not many)there really is no reason anyone would want one(maybe this is y Pete wont build one),it has no swim platform at all,u cant even walk across the back of this boat,so to me its more of a race converted pleasure boat that really is not that fast... Louie. |

If you think Pete at Skater cant build a 32 ft with a very light carbon layup that will atleast run with or outrun this Doug Wright, u are crazy.. look at how many of these pleasure boats are out there,

id like to see a 32 dw next to a 30 skater to see the size difference. i know the sponsons on the skater are huge in comparison to the dw and this is probably what most of the speed difference between the two is. i think the skater will look bigger than the dw due to this and the dw looks really cut down. from the picture it looks like the driver is sitting way over the windcreen so it has to be really shallow so the dw is a very small 32 boat but 113 is 113. 1 mph faster than the the pontoon boat so everything has a perspective

love the lines of the Doug Wright Poker Run...love to see it in person.
i would think Peter could build one to perform and run rite beside this one :party-smiley-004: is it me or is the port outboard trimmed a little more than the starboard???? |
The Doug Wrights sure have been and continue to dominate in the outboard class. I would love to see some other manufacturers get into this class for some healthy competition. The 32 pleasure and a 32 race DW are two diffrent animals. Carry on.

Here's some video footage dug up on youtube... It is simply a raw shot of the engines facing the rear for approximately 5 minutes.

I just want to say, I met Kap at Larry's on the Lake during the poker run and I can tell you I had no idea who he was until I just read this thread. He mentioned how nice of an older Black Thunder I have and I observed he had on a Doug Wright shirt and we began talking about how his boat stands out. Before I knew it we had walked over to his boat and he was letting me look all through it.
I would like to say thanks for the opportunity to see the boat up close and personal. |

Boat looks good and runs nice. Thanks for the video. Based on the spray and wake of the boat looks like it is really light!

Kap,
Some time ago on another site you mentioned you post some video footage on your website? I have not been able to find it. Skater Jim told me that all participants in the run will receive a hd DVD of the runs. Would be nice to see your boats run. As someone looking to move up I am very interested in the 32. Whose props are you running? Thks. |
Kap,
Boat looked great. Not sure if you remember but I was going back for another pass and yelled at ya to see what you ran. 25 daytona ICC red/purple/yellow/grey. Good job! |

I would also like to thank the prior posters for all their positive and supportive comments. We absolutely love LOTO probably the best boating environment anywhere... with the best hospitality, comaraderie, anywhere. These and many other factors makes this event and venue the best in the country. Look foward to next years 25th Anniversary! KAP |
