The dam is 16-17 miles south of Golconda. Or the eqivualent distance as MTV to JT Meyers dam for comparison.

I sure there will be variety of shots passed around the dock that night with this crew.

When is this run and how miles/hours? i assume you stay overnight on the boat? I usually dont run the river but i have heard alot about this event.

Some friends of mine build a tiki hut / bar every year because the water always gets it. Not sure if it's there this year. It's on the last island before you get to the dam. Be careful, even 100 foot or so out it's about 3ft deep. We always walk our boats in.

The run is about 110 miles from Evansville. Usually the Evansville crew meets at the Dogtown ramp around 8:00 a.m. From there they head to Mt. Vernon and meet up with everybody so everyone can lock through the dam at once. That is usually a good party in the lock. Usually takes 6 to 8 hours depending on how many times everyone stops. Pull into slips at Galconda marina and go up to the shrimp festival. Then its back to the docks to party all night. The run is next weekend September 15th. Couple years ago there was 40-60 boats that would do the run, the last few years 20-30. Its a good time.

We hope to have 6 coming from Smithland. 32 Thunder, 29 Outlaw, 27 Checkmate, 24 HTX, 25 Tahoe Pontoon and a 22 Glass stream. I havent looked at the river this year but Im hearing its very shallow. I hope we can get them all in at our ramp.

sucks I had to miss this....was really looking forward to going but the sitter for the kids backed out last minute. I watched the boats leave MTV and counted 30 plu when I drove off.
