they each have their strengths and weaknesses depending on the situation and conditions. Ask some questions there are lots of people here with answers.

I have always owned cats.

Big plus with a v-bottom is a nice cabin.
Big plus on a cat is they are FAST.

Yea , just joking with you friend . Personally i like the soft ride a cat gives you not to mention the added speed and efficiency of less drag . I think the type of water conditions your planning on boating in and the length of vessel you can afford will have a direct bearing on what type hull will best suit you . deep

I too am interested in this. I have been looking for a new project hill and thought maybe I would look for a cat due to the speed of them. I didn't know they had a softer ride. I realize there is much less cabin, but we don't use ours much anyway. From what I understand they handle different due to having two hulls in the water. I would imagine it would be an odd ride with a quartering sea (bow or stern) since both hulls are crossing at different times. Do 26-28' cats handle rough water as good as a similar sized deep v?

Looking forward to see what kind of information comes from this thread.

Cats
more expensive to purchase
heavier to tow
faster with same power
smaller cabin
harder on Bravos
not as good in rough seas
expensive insurance
*****in lookin

V's
less expensive to purchase
lighter to tow
slower with same power
larger cabin
easier on Bravos
better in rough seas
cheaper insurance
kick ars looking

Of course there are exceptions
31 Warlock cat cabin is huge
etc

I would like to kknow the difference in speed, ie two 30' one Deep Vee one Cat both with a pair of 330 horse engines each and compare the top speed.
