Thinking about a new interior for the SH this winter

We are thinking of a total redue on the interior of my Super Hawaii. Any thoughts on who I should have do it. I am in NW Ind., southern tip of Lake Michigan. It's not in bad shape, just needs updated after 21 years.

Payton 09-19-2012 09:24 PM

I was just on the Mcloed website. They've got some pretty cool stuff.

oh come on it's only been 21 years! the sad part is I remember when it was brand new. seriously tho it looks like it has held up pretty well.

Go for it Payton. New interiors always make a world of difference, like rims on a car. You'll be happy you did!.

cheech 09-19-2012 10:34 PM

Check out XT Inovations in Bucyrus Ohio. Have a recent thread on a 28 Skater they did. Seems to be top notch.

I second that!

mptrimshop 09-20-2012 01:48 AM

R u gonna do a redesign or just recover the stuff you have?

Payton 09-20-2012 05:55 AM

I am leaning toward a redesign and maybe a recover in the cabin.
mptrimshop, are you an upholstery shop?

Payton 09-20-2012 06:08 AM

XT Inovations, wow, that what I was looking for. I wish they were a little closer.

Sydwayz 09-20-2012 07:45 AM

Take it to XT. I've seen their work and recommend it highly.

I wish i could quit my job....the only way you can make the big bucks doing this kinda work is by doing alot of stuff. The key is finding guys to work for ya that can do it....and i have yet to find that. I just don't feel like i could put my name on something that i didnt look at and know was done the best i could. Good help is hard to find.

As far as XT i dont know him but i will say everything i have seen he has done looks real nice. He has got some equipment that i dont have.....stuff i dont evan know where to buy it. i just use a single sewing machine, steamer some staplers, and my hands.

mptrimshop 10-29-2012 07:11 PM

as far as work goes for me this is what i have right now. Im just going to let you guys know up front that i dont bring alot of boats in at one time cuz i do have a full time job and that always has to take 1st priority. I will only do one complete at a time

this is what im for sure locked into right now
1. 27 fountian-complete
2. BZ's 42 - amount has yet to set
3. 1969 37 christ craft rommer seats and headliner...and this is the boat that makes sure i'm on the water anytime i'm off work so it gets whatever it wants.

BBCLiberator 10-29-2012 07:31 PM

XT Innovations stuff looks awesome, but I almost passed out when I heard their prices. I actually took a chance on a small shop near my house called Detroit Stitching (Flat Rock, MI). I actually intended to use Copy Cat Covers but what they sent me turned out to complete garbage and went back. I had the engine cover, rear bench, and captains seats done for $1350 early this year. The guys at my marina couldn't believe how nice it was and started referring everyone to him. I went back this fall to have my side trim re-done above the gunwales -- he did it for nothing, with leftover pieces from my job and said He'd got $20k in business because of my job...

I'm not saying drag your boat over here, the point is, there are lots of capable people doing this work, and don't be afraid to use one. Whether they are working out of their basement, garage, small shop. You could save yourself thousands by shopping around.

Before everyone goes, nuts, I'm not baggin' on anyone especially XT, their work is phenomenal, no doubt about it. A bit out of this bottom feeders price range, thats all.

rfgonzo 10-29-2012 07:42 PM

I was just over at McLeod today working on some wire harnesses. They are working on some cool stuff. XT or McLeod you'll be happy.

Exactly. He probably has some little old lady tied up in the back room on a sewing machine...

I know two boats at my rack building who also used him this year, and I'm not sure his prices were quite as good for them, but still very cheap relative to what is out there.

mptrimshop 10-29-2012 08:17 PM
