Yesterday was the worst day of my life as i put my 6 years old yellow lab Hughey down to sleep. He passed away peacefully in my arms yesterday at 4:35pm at vet clinic in Brighton, MI. I cried like a baby and my body and heart were very severely sad and hurt. Hughey was my assistance hearing dog and never left my side. On June 30th, He was confirmed that he had agressive form of cancer caused by canine nasal when sneezing with blood. It broken down the bone in his beak and invaded his sinus, causing to have cancer in his head. His body was very strong and healthy but the major problem is his head. Radiation is an option but I rejected due side efects reason. And immediately decided to let him retire and enjoyed what left in his life. He was touched by hundreds of people who met and knew Hughey. Mama Wazzup is the one that often asks me about Hughey. He was beyond the ever dog ever because he rarely barked, never growled at anyone, only happy to with anyone, and loved to be around little kids to pet him.
Today, I am still hurt and sorrow since Hughey's passing. I know myself that I will have other dog but it will never ever replace Hughey.....I will post pictures of Hughey when I can. RIP, Hughey, love you, buddy.
Cancer is frigging SUCK! Cancer stole my Hughey too early!!!!!!!!!
RIP Hughey Aug 2, 2006 - Oct 10, 2012.

As soon as I walked in the door, he walked over to me and collapsed. It's like he waited for me to say goodbye...
He had a tumor in his spleen that was undetected in the x rays, good possibility the arthritis medecine thinned his blood and caused him to bleed in the abdomen.
He went so quick. Man I loved that guy.
Thanks guys. Means a lot, Ann and I are hangin in.

ALL DOG GUYS ARE WITH YOU...
MAN, I JUST READ THIS AND HAD TO REACH OUT AND AND SCRATCH MY YELLOW LAB'S HEAD = I'M DISABLED TOO,AND THE ONLY SERVICE HE PROVIDES IS MAKING ME SMILE EVERY DAY..I'VE LOST 2 LABS IN THE LAST 12 YEARS EACH ONE DIFFERENT FROM THE OTHER.
IT DOESN'T FEEL IT NOW .......BUT YOUR NEXT ONE WON'T REPLACE HUGHEY OR LOVE YOU LESS AND VICE/VERSA.
IT SUCKS, CANCER SUCKS -BUT IT WILL GET BETTER.
TAKE CARE AND REMEMBER THE GOOD TIMES.
NOT TO BE A DOG SNOB,
BUT TO PARA-PHRASE TOM CRUISE'S OPINIION OF PORSCHE IN "RISKY BUSINESS"
"LABS -THERE IS NO SUBSTITUTE"
BUT, ALL DOGS ARE GREAT!!

Lost my 6 year old golden at 6 years old(Ellie), cancer in the lungs, my wife had taken her all the way to Southfield trying to save her, I was unable to go, had to make the decision to put her down over the phone due to my own medical problems, one of the hardest things I had to do, still owe my wife big time to put her thru that. Now my 6 year old Danny is doing good, another great dog, there is hope to find another awesome dog.

I read this post today just after I got the 'all clear' from the vet after an early morning trip. I feel for ya. My wife picked up Ollie while I was at work and took him to the house. He had been having trouble walking and had severe arthritis in his spine. Everything came about in the last two days. All his labs were great, and he was doing well.
As soon as I walked in the door, he walked over to me and collapsed. It's like he waited for me to say goodbye...
He had a tumor in his spleen that was undetected in the x rays, good possibility the arthritis medecine thinned his blood and caused him to bleed in the abdomen.
