hey! My first post here. My name is Oliver and is 19 years old. I live in Sweden.
I bought my first offshore boat for about seven months ago, a Wellcraft Scarab 22 from 1997.
I really love the boat, she runs like a dream in the water and takes real rough water without problems
The engine is a Mercruiser 454 7.4 l v8 about 350hp. what I know is the engine stock but the cylinderheads among some other stuffs restored. The drive is a Bavo one with a mirage plus 27pitch.
It has a top speed of around 70mph.
But this winter, I thought to lift out the engine and make it look like new again
And when i do this i have plans to tune it..
Have a little trouble getting to plane when we are four or more people in the boat, and I'd like to have a few extra mph
and even go up to a 29 or 30pitch propeller.
The engine is in very good condition and has been about 50 hours since restored.
Do you have any suggestions on how to tune the engine?
I've Looked a bit on mapping the ignition and fuel box and switching to headers which will make about 50hp. But otherwise, I have looked at a ProCharger kit which gives me a total of 560 horsepower. This would be optimal but it feels like it's too expensive ..
So tips on how I can tune the engine a little cheaper than a procharger.
Is there much parts to buy used? For example here at OSO?Here in Sweden is there no parts for sale at all, unfortunately.
I also have concerns about switching seats to some standing seats like this: http://www.cpperformance.com/p-14390...p-bolster.aspx
but find no seats I really want. do you have suggestions on where I can buy nice seats?
Thankfull for any help

I think with your hp on that hull you might get more mph & better on plane with a wheel like a 25 mirage or mirage +
That 27 your spinning now is very strong for 350 hp if your drive is a 1.5
Stand up bolster seats in that boat would be sketchy.
Go to the SCARAB section and ask around over there for advice you'll prob get more feedback

The 22 Scarab doesn't have the freeboard for stand up bolsters. It won't drive right (steering wheel too low, gauges too low) and won't look right.
Leave it as is... if you want a stand up ride you need a different boat.

so i look for some seats that allows me to stand halfstand and have a backrest.I really don't know what to look for.
Found these http://www.twinmarine.com/bolsters.htm
But hav'nt done some measurement on the boat yet.
Another idea i had was to use like sparco seats from a race car, they are quite soft but i don't know how good they are for the back either.
