Thanks SneakAttack. i started out making cardboard templates of the engine compartment. Then made a template of the back and front. Transferred everything to wood. Figured out the height and style i wanted and started cutting. i wanted to be able to walk on them so i cut in stringers. Once i could jump on them and not have them flex i had them glassed up.

sweet...thats awesome! i measured mine today and my hatch scoops are 5inches tall so im thinking i will double the height. i do not have intercoolers and my flame arresters hit the top of the scoops now. i want to make sure i have enough room to clear when i add intercoolers.

how much does your hatch weigh?

I can stand on it all day Dave can answer that better than me but theres stringers inside for support. It is about 5 1/2" high.

On the cigarettes they have a really thick original sun pad. I believe its about 6 inches. My hatch is at the top of the boat and my inside dimension of the hatch is 5 1/2 inches. That's just enough to fit 4 inch Intercoolers 8/71s and 3inch flame arrestors

Ryan...perhaps you should put a picture of yourself up here to give an idea of how strong those hatches are, considering you jumped up and down on them? LMAO!
