Hi,

Congratulations with the dream package! One day I will buy one, thats sure.

Do you use a hand trottle or a fottrottle? As you know using fottrottle you can use both hands on the wheel and trim at high speed. I will reckon this is safer than handtrottle in 115 mph.

Cheeers and thanks, Toffen

I have a foot throttle in my boat. Unless you plan to fabricate a toe clip like we do in the race cars to be able close the throttle I don't think you have anywhere near the throttle control you do w/ the sticks in any kind of rough water. Also since one normally braces themselves against the seat by pushing off the footrest I find that w/ one foot on the throttle you can end up stabbing the throttle on occassion too. This can happen at times you you'd prefer you it did not.

Hi,

I presume its matter of taste. I have a ol Phantom 25 made for offshore racing in the 80-ties. Typically equipped with twin XR2's. I had for some years twin Merc 2.5 efi ss engines running close to 90 mph. The boat has been equipped with foot trottle all time and trim on the wheel. And it has been working very well running 70-80 mph in 3 feet seas. I did have a InFoot dual trottle with the Mercs. Brilliant foottrottle.. Now with my Vrod 350 sci I can choose between handteottle and foottrottle due to the DTS system.

Good luck with your project:)

Cheers Toffen

Hi Toffen,
Boat will be rigged with standard hand throttle but at some point this year i will be fitting my fly-by-wire steering system, at the same time i will install steering wheel mounted throttle paddles which can be operated by either hand as they are geared together and also tab and trim controls.

Thanks noli,
The steering column has self centring built in which is quite strong, the two controls apply load to adjustable friction clutches so you can choose the amount of self centring from rapid return to centre to assisted centring this is to allow adjustment for personal preference and to give some resistance in rough water. The steering wheel only moves through an arc of 350 degrees so just under one turn lock to lock which makes docking very easy, it is also hooked up into the GPS system so that as the speed rises it becomes less sensitive. I am also holding pressure in both sides of the steering cylinders which minimize torque steer, we can also program in the maximum steering angle the boat can safely take at any given speed.
