At age 61, in 2004, he is world champion in Key West, wins the Harmsworth Trophy,
set two long distance records (Venice-Montecarlo and Tampa-Miami) and wins the 240 mile long Pavia-Venezia race
at an average speed of 198 km/h(123 mph) with a hydroplane powered by a gas turbine. http://www.raidpaviavenezia.it/Storia.html
In 2010, at the ripe age of 67, he won the Cowes-Torquay-race and the Harmsworth Trophy.
It would be no surprise if he is among the competitors in next years Cowes - MonteCarlo-race...

Fabio Buzzi has been driving race boats since before many of you were born. He cut his teeth in single seater outboard and inboards and holds numerous World Championships and records. His "Italian technology" has beaten our best on a number of occasions , and we have returned the favor. Bottom line is most of his detractors on here in an even contest with even equipment would lose to Fabio...Simply put he is a Real life long (decades and decades) boat racer and if you want to beat the best...you'll have to beat him. His comments about Italian technology reflect pride in his country...same thing that drives you to reply competitively.....unfortunately...some of you have made it personal...and he deserves better..as a matter of fact if you guys would listen..you might learn something from him.
By the way...if he really wanted to set a record of magnificent proportions...say 10 or 11 hours..he simply would have dusted off his 20 plus year old "Spirit of Argentina" or his near 30 year old "Gancia di Gancia". The fact is he used a military purpose built boat to advertize the capabilities of his designs.... a good marketing technique from a guy who has created some of the most advanced designs in Offshore history.....

He has every right to think that, Fabio had a hand in desinging everything on that boat. Fabio is to Italian powerboating as Peter Hledin is to American powerboating. Both are self made brilliant designers and builders who both make amazing boats.

and still running these speed boat's so he doe's deserve some credit
