Default Ilmor question

If i wanted to switch out my 525's for Ilmors 700 would they just swap in or would everything have to be re rigged?
i have the Imco scx drives so wouldn't change to indy drives.

496HO to 625 in my Daytona. Motor is very long, back seat has been cut to clear and new tailpipes made.

If you're talking about your 2008 Top Gun, I suspect that the length wouldn't be a big deal, but I would plan on having to move the forward mounts; I assume that they are race mounts. Bravo-style bellhousings are available for these engines. Electically, Ilmor wiring supports both NMEA2000 and analog gauge outputs, but not SmartCraft. I'd call Ilmor at (734) 456-3600. They can provide you with the installation drawing which shows all the dimensions, as well as walk you through the necessary mods you need to make (or consider) for the switch to V10 power. Just ask for Ian, Nick or Jessica.

Are talking about the current 725's or the earlier 700's? They are completely different engines.

Yes on my 08 Cig
Not sure on motor as was just trying to check out my options.
The boat is in Florida for the winter and when it comes back i was planning on upgrading the motors, i see a few possibilities, it not supporting smartcraft is a down side but i also have analog gauges, changing motor mounts isn't a big deal, i have plenty of room so thats no biggie.
Might be better off just going with whipples or the Hardin turbos but having a couple of ilmors would make it unique and sure like the sound of them, plus kind of match my Viper SRT-10

I wouldn't think that i would have trouble selling my 525's

Didn't know you got a Viper now. No more Ferrari,eh .

Two Ilmors would be the ticket in a Cig. Loved the sound of these in this Eliminator!

The Gen III Ilmors are about 3" longer than a 525. They are also about 250 lbs lighter since they are alluminum block motors. Ilmor makes great motors but you want to make sure the weight difference will not move your CG too far forward in the boat. your 38 would haul with those 700's and they turn them over 6000 RPM too!

Loved your boat at Desert Storm. Painting the Ilmors blue with silver intake, would compliment the Cig!
