Default Surface drives?

I'm looking at a boat with KAAMA surface drives. I've never driven one or even ridden in a boat with surface drives.

How different are they from outdrives? Any particular tricks to driving them?

a little tricky around the docks but manageable. the nose of the boat dont come up like a outdrive does when going on plane or trimming..the boat push's ,,drive one and you will see what i mean..btw parts are scares for the kaama drives..

I have run Arneson drives for 20 + years. Much more positive than negative for me. I only know a bit about Kaama.

I saw your thread on your windshield replacement. Beautiful and very cool boat you have!

Though I know nothing of Kaamas I did run Arnesons for years on cats, very reliable over thousands of hours and never broke. Only down side I see is if you need bow lift then forget it other than that I think they are better than regular outdrives.

both are fine to drive and easy to move around the docks. With the kaamas good luck getting parts if they break

There is nothing at all wrong with them. Most parts are straight out of a parts house like Grainger. Shafts and casings are the problem.
