I race RC trucks indoors both dirt and carpet I the offseason..... Once the weather breaks the trucks go on the shelf and stay there until boat is winterized....

When the weather's too crappy for boating in the NW I go scuba diving a lot more. It's always a pleasant 47F. Skiing too.

Off season? we boat year round, even though we can boat year round here in California having one boat in Florida sure makes for a nice change.

I'm running in the Marine Corps Marathon this Sunday....but we're still boating here in Maryland as well...

Other than that, I usually just save $$$ during the winter and take one nice vacation and a few long weekend trips to Florida every winter.

My Jx iceboat is 18'long and 10' wide at the plank with a 18' mast and appx. 80 sq.ft. of sail. The hull and plank are wood, composite and West System construction. It approaches 80mph in the correct conditions. I'm a beginner and haven't got near those speeds yet. It's amazing when you're sailing along and you get the wind correctly and the hull squats as the boat accelerates and there's little noise. Like anything else related to boats it wasn't cheap to build, runners, sails/mast, hardware are expensive but it is very cheap to operate.
