The seas will be the limiting factor unless this "challenge" happens on flat water.

I remember when I was in the Pacific ocean with a group of guys I was runing with a similar sized boat that had twice as much power as I did; however, he couldn't really use it to pull away because the seas wouldn't allow our smaller 30' boats to run any faster.
Are you serious? The boat with more power can be set with the tabs down, drives in, basically a more stable set up and run faster than the boat with less power. Period! Maybe that is 50 mph as compared to 35 mph. Why are there different classes if power doesn't make a difference?

Thumbs up

I can't believe some people say the "speed" needs to be the same to race?

A fair race is to take the Apache and Skater, same power, same length.

The Skater will win if experienced drivers are in control, not some yahoo from a sunday event. The Apache is more forgiving, but there is no way the Vee, or any Vee, can outrun a cat like the Skater.

Think This:
Apache = '69 Camaro
Skater = '12 Vette

Which one is faster!?!?

And some vid of a cat on the same day...don't know if its a Skater...if so, might be a 32...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j1hswPvm_44

This vid does an EXCELLENT job of showing the water on Lake Michigan...no rhythm, no order...you have to drive by feel.
