I know that it is a living nightmare for most and my thoughts and prayers go out to everyone. Thanks for your efforts documenting this disaster for history and checking on people we all care about. Heard from a reliable source today that FEMA is not doing anything for you if your house damaged in the storm was not your primary residence. Election must be over.
This comes to no surprise. During Katrina the whole system was a joke!! I had family members trapped on a bridge by the 17th street canal for almost 4 days with out food or water in 100 degree temperatures. They could hear people trying to claw there way out of there attics. It took almost 4 days before government aid got to them to lift them and the dozens of other people that were trapped on the bridge to interstate 10. At that point they were told to walk to the I-10/310 split which was (I'm estimating here) 5 miles away. At that point they were told they would be picked up by a bus and brought to Houma which was heading south another 40 minutes (more disaster area). When they arrived in Houma they were then bussed to Baton Rouge were we picked them up. When we got them and brought them to our house in Baton rouge they still had not been offered any food, but were given 1 bottle of water!!! That's all they had for people who had been stuck with no food, water or shelter from the intense heat and then had to walk 5 miles to get bussed around for the next 12 hours. Give me a break!! When we finally got them they were sunburnt and blistered from the intense sun. It was a very sad site that this could happen in our country. My aunt and uncle told us later that two elderly people died on the bridge waiting to be rescued. Not to mention the thousands upon thousands of people who where stuck at the super dome with out any supplies or aid from the government. Sorry for the rant, but I'm not surprised that FEMA is not helping. |

http://sharkeyimages.zenfolio.com/im...38115530-4.jpg That one brown house that survived in the middle of the "inlet" impressed me. I knew both of the guy's kids growing up. He was an architect who designed and built that house himself, if I remember correctly. It looks like he knew a thing or 2. |
Trying to sync up the Before & After photos now.
