You can almost argue that a blower is "bolt and go" but then he would still have to deal with re-propping and hydraulic steering. Oh, and fixing his B1 after it eats itself.

Do an upgrade kit exist
for these new engines?
Or simple quastion, does anyone tweak 502 yet ?

What is your goal? A 22' pachanga is not a bad beginners powerboat by any means, but you need a clear goal in mind rather than just "adding more power".

FIXX 10-27-2012 07:21 PM

also keep in mind that your engine is a fly by wire set up so the blue intake will need nmore hardware then you think..

Call Dustin at Whipple. He may be working on or can give advise on upgrading your motor.

Blowers are by no means bolt and go........unless you only want to go for a very short time.

To my knowledge, nobody has done any mods for the new 502 engines. I doubt there are more than a couple hundred that have even been produced and most are still under warranty. By the time you are done spending money on any mods that would give any real gains, you would be better off selling it and upgrading to a 525efi. Whipple is probably the only one that can even reprogram the PCM. To get the tune right, it would need to be done on the dyno and then should be done in the boat also with a AFR's.

My goal is limited by drive ,which is bravo III x ratio 2.0 with 28 pitch.Mercury manufacture bravo III up to 525 hp ,that's what I look for...
And thanks for any advice to all.
First thing on monday I will do is give a call to Wipple, i'm pretty sure Dustin figured out somthing :)

I think what's being said here is:

With all due respect, you have the wrong boat, engine and drive to be considering performance tweaks. You'd be far better off pocketing the money that you would spend, avoiding the headaches, and moving up to a proper single-engine performance package when time permits.

We're not being rude or uncooperative; we're just passing on our experience....

That really depends on the individual. I took a 20ft searay, completely gutted it to a shell, installed a new stringer/bulkhead grid, built my own deck, rigged it out and bolted on a 2.5 merc offshore. I raced this boat for two years against progressions, activators, superboats, ringcrafts, marshans and phantoms and blew them away for two straight years.

I bought a 50cc scooter for a pit bike. It now runs 72MPH. Could of bought a 150cc but just like the sea ray, where's the fun in that. He may be like me and prefers to build his own weapons.

is this like your boat??

if it is then i would ditch the drive and find a standard 150 bravo one with a -2'' incl shorty and go from their..that drive is good for alot of people on the boat and most boats i have seen in your size is limited to about 60 mph..standard bravo with a shorty will be faster..
