I like our small local run. You can talk boats, engines, etc.... No one is trying to be BMOC.

For us - I usually budget 1500 ALL IN. 500 for entry fee (normally me, wife and brother), 75 miles at 1mpg - 400 bucks. few hundred in food, liquor, etc.... I've won a couple hands over the last couple years so that lowers my "average".

On our " cheap" Wednesday pokerruns it is $100 a person up front or $110 at the door. I have no idea how or why but I usually end up spending about a grand by days end...

I agree! Nice to deal with "real" people, the last time my g/f went with me to the 1000 Islands run she commented she had never seen "so many trophy wives 30 years younger then there husbands in her life"

I guess we should ALL be so lucky! LOL

Default Monster Bash, Lake Havasu

I just got back from the Monster Bash in Lake Havasu, put on by Lake Racer, they also do Desert Storm. Like was posted earlier this is a good one for smaller boats like mine. Cost of registration is $250+$40 each for 3rd and 4th person, about $300 for boat gas. A couple of meals are included and you will buy a few. Plus lodging and gas to get to the lake.
Lots of fun and well worth it.

Short answer:

Premier type events cost premier type dollars.

Local, smaller runs cost less and are still fun.

Both are relative to the amount of accomodations and climate/location.

Only so many beds in Key West, but LOTO has 1000's.

Either at the Pier House or Galleon. They jack up the prices for the week of the races. Call and find out how much a suite is, they'll tell ya. Also its nice to see the races from your balcony like i have been doing all week. Trust me a week in KW with both rigs and everything it adds up, and yes i will admit it we party more than we should
