Mine is tuned for 91. Flame arrestor and manual says 92 octane or something I think. Not sure about 89 unless you left the blower belt off. LOL

W a supercharger the worst thing is detonation. The higher the octane the lesser the detonation.

Has anyone taken a stock 575 and added 9-10 pounds of boost? If so , What was the result? What HP did it make

There are a few Ron Potter-coverted engines out there making about 700. Tom A. on this board is a very satisfied customer. In stock condition, they are not the most trouble-free package as others have noted.

Keegan - My Volvo Penta's (540ci/600hp) sound just fine....

They make that kind of power stock, with chillers and 6 pounds of boost

That is what I have been running for years and never a detonation problem.

I had 575SCI's in my Spectre before repowering with 600SCI's this year. They were the best set of motors I have owned so far in my 30+yr boating career.

What was your reason for going with the 600s? just curious. Guessing you went after the whipple upgrades and wanted more than 700hp?

I would rather have a noisy blower, than have my boat sound like a volvo penta, but that is just me. I love the blower whine on mine.

They can handle 700hp all day if set up correctly. I was skeptical buying them, but now that mine are tuned correctly, they run like a full efi set up!

525s are great engines also. The 575s have more potential if you want more power out of them. Stock for stock i would go with the 525s.
