I was thinking that, as well as missed TV coverage.

We wore our suspenders all the way down in a 65-mph center console, a boat in which I never felt unsafe or that I really even needed the PFD. Still, rules are rules and our captain respected them. And you can bet that if I was in a 100-plus-mph boat or any other in a Florida Powerboat Club event, I'd be wearing one as well.
Florida Powerboat Club makes it very clear that all participants must wear PFDs, but how can you enforce it? I think Stu and his crew do a great job putting safety first, and I know they are always looking for ways to improve. |
Funny how a racing group has no problem enforcing a rule regarding life jackets but a poker run organizer cannot. Yet at times they run the same speeds in similar water conditions and in many cases with less experience or frequency in the seat.

I have 12 vest on My boat. I asked the people that go out often to go buy a vest that fits them an that they like. Thay did an bring them on the boat when they come on board. You know they now keep up with there own vest. Thay fit them an they don't wan't to lose them. That worked well. Artie
