Did you buy the kit or did it come on the boat because the systems come with a different reservoir then the one you have

Yea no room for a remote res in there. So if you are ok in normal conditions then I would say its not lack of fluid its due to sloping around. So if you swap them the baffle will prevent that. If you look at larger boats even with twin 525 some are running just this reservoir in place of what you have.

The diagram is misleading but the photo in post #1 shows an inlet & an outlet just like the stock res.

No, didn't purchase it yet. The plastic one that I pictured is the stock 525 P/S reservoir. My Zeiger full steering system made no mention of any need to change it. I was ready to order it until I noticed the 2" fill level line. So now I'm thinking "WTF", why so much empty space when the stock reservoir works fine with only 1" of empty space.

I think you are right. The problem is sloshing and not a lack of fluid. The fluid does not get hot or foamy. I'll call Latham once more and ask why they want so much empty space in the reservoir.

Thanks for the help.

if its not hot or foamy then the lack of a baffel in your setup is the problem. Tell us what Latham says but I'm sure its for heat expansion and over flow purposes. Flat rate- It has 1 in and 1 out 3/8 in 1/2 out like drawing states.

I ordered the Latham reservoir shown in post #1. They said that the large empty space is to allow for sloshing. Expansion will be minimal. It is OK to overfill it a little and it should fix my problem. For almost $600 total it better! It sure is purdy.

This came today. I ordered it through Teague and saved almost $100. It is supposed to improve oil flow and stop it from sucking air on rough water. It's gonna bling up the 525 a little too!

Looks much better than that plastic tank. Now we just need spring to come.
