I had a B1 behind 454 mag 365HP, over 500 hours when gas was cheap, no problems. With that power they will survive. I had a friend with a B1 behind a 550 HP blower motor in a 251 checkmate. The only problem he had is he broke a gimbel ring. That boat was at LOTO and was ran extremely hard, ALWAYS. It was in the air more than the water. He was excellent at working the throttle and never had any gear problems with over 600 hours. Light boat, moderate HP, and a driver that knows the stick(s) they will be fine. It seems like alot of people worry about extra HP but don't worry about the drive...til it breaks, then we complain. I don't see any hot rod cars with stock rear ends. They get something stronger.

You guys will buy a 1 ton diesel truck to pull a 5000 pound boat then you put 1000HP in front of a B1. Kind of a** backwards.

I've been running NA 800+HP thru my XR's w/ 6 blade Herings for 2 years now with no drive issues. The prior history of boat has few drive issues. Will go thru them this winter and knock on wood.

At this time, looking at 6-1-2013 release date. No guarantees on that date....

Understand there are no guarantees but I hope they are ready even sooner!

Thanks

Yeah, but you have 5 blades. There is a red sticker on the right hand side of your drive that says "Not For Use With 5 Blade Props"

Whose fault is that? :lolhit:

I've got a gear collection started off my buddies 38 TS cig
that has 500 EFI's and 4 blades, so the 5 blade disclaimer
doesn't necessarily hold true;)

Finding a boat less than 32ft with anything but a bravo/bravos is a problem in itself.

I think its a great idea for the guys that have an XR and want to have them live longer than they do now. im running 650HP with an XR and so far so good. its never a bad thing to have billet gears made that wont break off teeth.. even under case flex issues.
i agree if you building a boat to use a better drive.. but most guys here are like me as to where i already have mine all set up and would put money down on better parts for improvement.

i build 1000WHP 3000GTs for a living. it is a car that has no aftermarket support. it is something that is being used outside its designed purpose. if it werent for custom billet oil pump gears, transfer case gears, connecting rods, axles, billet transfer housings etc etc it would never work. many many times ive had better parts made to fit stock locations and it really is key to making things happen

When I put my 650's in I had Dick Tryce (Mr gadgets) added two AN fittings to run drive coolers and inline filters. My boat is 8200 pounds. I have 50 hours on XR gears running in rough water. Almost every weekend I run out West Palm to Boca Inlet. Under punishing conditions I rarely see over 160-180 degree drive temperatures. I havent had a major failure since the coolers were installed but at decent oil temps like this it definitely cant hurt. Its one thing I will never go without on a Bravo application ever again.

I am hoping for a release date of 6-1-2013

Don't have pricing yet, but it will be more than stock XR gears. Unfortunately my small volume compared to Merc drives up the cost.

They will be direct replacements for XR gears.

Can't talk about anything else right now.........

Any updates.........Please. Trying to plan for summer :daz:

Update: I just managed to rip 1 tooth off the pinion gear. Heard the noise, shut her down. Took the cap off and there is a tooth laying in there...

What a pain in the a$$.
