Any benefit with these paints vs regular flow coat?
|
bilge paint
I just did the bilge in my boat a month ago and would highly reccommend the 2 part Sherwin Williams polyureathane. It lays out slick and looks great and its about a third of the price as Awlgrip. Plus you can buy it local easy.
I used b65w311 untinted with b60v30 I personally would not use a single component (1k) product such as bilgecoat. |
paint
The best way I found to clean was to use wax and grease remover in a pump sprayer and spray an area down good and while its wet scrub with a red scotch brite then wipe off with a big towel. I used a hotel bath towel worked good.

Hey loser, to do it right sand the bilge, then wipe down with liquid sandpaper, then awl grip it. I know you to well so I know your lazy butt won't do it that way. Just spray paint the bilge of that turd.

Awlgrip it's expensive but well worth it.

Is awlgrip a 2 part application? Primer then paint?
|
Gelcoat works.
|
I used Sherwin williams Macropoxy industrial coating and it will stick to anything! They coat oil rigs with this stuff, it is rock hard. Although, it was my second choice. I would have just rolled some gel out if I had any readily available. With the epoxy it would have to be ground all the way off for any future repairs that were poly or vinylester. Basically once you go with epoxy you have to stick with epoxy or sand it back off. So, another point, if there is something other than gel already there, you have to be careful what you topcoat it with.
