If anyone hasn't noticed, there is not much common sense ,,and hardly any courtesy at any boat ramp anymore, we try to use ramps away from the mainstream so we don't have to deal w/ someone using the ramp to park on while he waits for 3 carloads of people to walk down to his boat.

A marina by me just puts a gate up and anyone who wants to use it has to ask the main office/store for a key to use the ramp, and only dockers are allowed to use it.

The ramp I sometimes use has some pretty good / common sense rules. The ones I like the best are:

- No working on / repairing your boat in the ramp. If your boat won't start, pull it back out and work on it in the parking lot.

- 5 minute limit in the ramp.

No Loading or unloading crap from your boat at the top of the ramp.. Make sure everything is in your boat before you pull onto the ramp. And when you are hauling out, no unloading at the top of the ramp. That is the most common problems at our ramp. The ramp we use has a huge parking lot use it to unload and load your gear. Though, even with signs posted no one listens.

being we don't have any rules we have no recourse for anything. Enforcement will be done by the community association and if needed AA county police. The main issue is with no rules AACP hands are tied no matter what happens unless a county law is broken.

The community owns the ramp and surrounding property including parking. We don't have designated parking like stripes and such. The main issue is there is limited parking and we are finding that someone will show up at the ramp with their boat trailer and truck and then 4 of their buddies will also drive down in separate cars and all park leaving no parking for other boaters. The worst is when the original truck and trailer is not from the neighborhood.

We have a good security gate and a cable to the top of the driveway. It's just the keys have got out of control. Neighborhood folks are getting multiply keys. Half the time you have no clue who is at the ramp even though there is only 98 houses within our hood and only about 25% of them have boats.

If you can send them to mark @ SuperNova19.com
tks
Everyone thanks (I'm keeping a list) and please keep them coming.

What if you were to stripe and designate boat/trailer vs. car parking, require a parking permit (daily or annual) and empower a towing company to patrol it. obviously it wouldnt eliminate the visitor form using it, but at least youd collect some cash from their attendance. If they dont pay, and you tow them, they might NOT come back at all, problem solved.

A lil bit of pavement paint, a cheap parking lot ticket machine or a local merchant at the ramp to sell parking passes could prove very useful.

This seems about the best idea. Lay out a parking strategy and distribute to the community via flyers as well as posted at the marina. Once a few people get towed and the word gets out, the problem should solve itself.

Give every house in the association 2 numbered placards to hang from the car/truck mirror. Post signs that any vehicle not displaying a placard will be towed at the owners expense.
