MTI crash in Illinois
Got this from a buddy of mine this morning. Headed south on I-57 in Illinois.
Sure hope no one was hurt. I searched but didn't see any threads on this yet. Does anyone have any information about the accident, hoping to hear good news about the driver(s). http://imageshack.us/a/img801/8484/photo2cap.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img163/3931/photo1ots.jpg |
I hope everyone was ok.
|
Wow bummer.
|
+1 on everyone OK...looks like a nice boat:(
|
Sad. looks like it came off the truck. Hope no one was hurt.
|
Hopefully the trailer broke loose from the tow vehicle and it was a trailer only crash (no other drivers/tow vehicle unaffected). No truck in the photo......
|
Hope all are ok, what a major bummer! :(
|
happened before christmas

Glad no one was hurt, and boat isn't destroyed.

All,
Most importantly, driver is OK, no one hurt. The weather on HWY 57 was very bad December 20, 2012 when this happened. Unfortunately when our driver was getting ready to pull off due to weather and black ice a semi came by and it put truck and trailer into spin. The coupler broke off the trailer and left boat on it's STBD side. While sitting on it's side, it quickly fell over. When the next gust of wind came up and it ended up on its top. It is right side up now and back home. It was a 2008 40 MTI, 700 Boat on flat, not tilt trailer. This happened at MM213 in Tuscola, IL and we are just happy no one got hurt and boat not to bad, more dirt than anything. Boat only has a few bruises and no structural damage so when done, it will be as beautiful as new and have new paint job, new interior to match and windshield. Just some scratches, light damage on port corner and back of bustle, broken skag and portion of windshield broken. We got real lucky that it tipped over into grass vs cart wheeling down highway or hitting concrete. Most importantly no one hurt. Have a great 2013 Pier 57 www.pier57.com |
I saw the boat afterwards and it doesn't look bad at all. You would think from the pic posted it would be worse off, its all cosmetic stuff. With new paint and interior I'd buy it for sure. Well, if i could ever get a few other things off my spending plate.

Not sure if that would have even helped.

Humor
Now we know no one is hurt, thankfully, a little laugh.
Is that what they call surface drives?:lolhit: |
Very True. It had 6 straps on it and 4 snapped, two were hanging.
All is good. We will post pics of before/after work in next couple weeks. Going to be a "Beautiful" boat, has a sick paint job going on it. Only 30 hours on it, that was biggest bummer outside of cleaning up the dirt and freezing while putting on trailer. Pier 57

Tie downs work great for securing a load. They don't work so well in a crash. Nothing Does.

Paint and glass can be replaced. Glad to hear there were no driver injuries. Though I'm sure there was some sleep lost over that! Glad to hear of a safe outcome.

I REALLY liked that one as well, glad no one was hurt.

That SUCKS:eekdrop:

Glad everyone is ok. I know how it can be out there. One county is salting and maintaining the roads good and all of a sudden the next is not. Nothing the driver can do at that point but hold on. The Semi's don't slow down unless they are in the ditch. I sorta understand why they go so fast because they have excellent traction and handling with all the weight, but when they fly by others it makes it very unsafe.
