MIdnightRider 07-19-2002 07:30 PM

:D :D Yeh, If were doing allot of racing, I like strong Vodka drinks, that waves just knock the life out of a beer. And those strong drinks also make my TS of 91 feel like 101mph:D :D :D ! But really we cant go over 1000rpm anywhere in our area. My dog could bring that boat back into the marina, and sometimes he does. Midnight

MIdnightRider 07-20-2002 07:13 AM

Just kidding, we do not really race around up here drunk as skunks. We leave that to all the other dumbasses in our area. Besides my Rig is far to load to be doing anything, thinking you are going to draw any attention to yourself. I think it may idle at about 120db:D . Midnight:cool:

KAAMA 07-20-2002 09:17 AM

Lots of water and maybe a few bottles of Snapple ice tea and Welche's 100% grape juice and or some Ocean Spray cranberry juice.

Playn 07-20-2002 10:05 AM

Re: Boating beverage poll

In the early eighties when I got started, my friends with boats always drank their azzes off. It seemed like the thing to do. I did it too. As I got out of my twenties, and into my thirties, I chilled out quite a bit. The last few years, I am very rarely with beer in hand while boating. Lately, (maybe partially because of OSO) I have been very good.

It seems that Thunder on the River attracted some extra enforcement. We had Ohio DNR, Toledo Police Harbor Patrol, US Coast Guard, and Sheriff's Marine Patrol out, and the best part is that many were carrying ATF agents on board for the weekend.

Sunday afternoon I was stopped and boarded for the first time. I have been inspected at docks, etc. I have been "talked to" in no wakes downtown and other slow speed situations, but never intercepted while up on plane. It was kind of scary. It's so strange when a boat starts running an intercept on you.
I'm glad that I was sober. I can't imagine what would have been going through my mind if i had been drinking, even a little.
These guys weren't screwing around, and there's more enforcement in western Lake Erie than ever. I was completely legal and legit, but it was still an unpleasant experience.

I get out on the water to avoid hassles. I think that even though I was on my way in a few minutes (shaken) the experience has made me fear getting popped with a beer, even if I am not actually drunk. I think that I have evolved into a totally sober skipper. I'm quitting while I'm ahead.

At the dock is another story.

If I'm going out to run fast, or play water. If I'm just cruising or anchored a beer or two. Now that I've got the gas powered blender though....

Tanqueray Tonic & Lime..................MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM Crazy Tasty.
Or Captain Morgan's and Ice...I never put enough coke in to make it worth while anyway.

I usually don't drink and drive the boat but I have on a few occasions done so. Very stupid but luckily no one got hurt.

Fund Razor

I was picked up 5 times in Toledo last year. Never got written up but I was harrassed each time, and the best part all 5 times I was stone cold sober. Once there was an old empty from the week befor that was in the side panels of my cockpit and he tried to nail me for it. He swore I was drunk because my eyes were red and there was a beer can in my boat..............I just told him 70mph--------22miles and I forgot my sunglasses....what the hell does he expect my eyes to look like that was the last time I ever got stopped.

Just water when on the boat, I don't display numbers and it is a sure thing they will come along side and ask. That and I just don't like to drink and think, I have gone all day with water just to dock and drink a 1/5th of Jack. It has been done before, no lie. Now that means I sit , drink, pass out, eat, pass out, wake and boat again :) The food is the trick, no hang over or lasting effects, a whole pizza works the best. :)

I just get ALL jacked on hard liquor and illegal drugs.
The effect of the double-vision is TOTALLY like driving a CAT. . . I can't afford a Skater.

The side-benefit is that I'm a little less nervous while docking.

While underway (which lately has not been much of that) water, water, and more water.

Back at the dock two "ICE COLD" beers, preferably Molson Red, but they are hard to get down here.
