Default Mercathode System

Any thoughts on the Mercathode system from Mercury? I removed the Mercury Transom assemblies that had the system on them, installing new IMCO transom assemblies. There is no provision for mounting the Mercathode system, I would have to install the "pucks" on the transom itself, more holes in the boat. Pro's/con's on leaving the system off of a trailered boat. We boat in fresh water, mostly daily boating, then back on the trailer. A couple of times a year we are in the water for a week. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks

Wouldn't worry about a trailered boat. It only works when the boat is sitting, so won't make a difference for your day boating if you do alot of running. If you are worried about the week long stints, you can always hang a few magnesium anodes over the back near your drives. Just be sure they are screwed to a bare wire, which in turn is connected to a good ground, (engine block). Anodes do no good if they are not electrically bonded to your grounding circuit.

I don't know if the 'fish' anodes come in magnesium, which is what you use for freshwater use

Exactly the information I am looking for. I know they use the "Fish" anodes at the Ft. Lauderdale Boat Show while the boats are in the water. It looks like I'm removing the remaining components of the system, Thanks
